Lux G dumpster find!

This past Saturday, I went to a recycling center that I've never been to before. One of the first things I found was a complete Lux G in a dumpster! Only problem was that it was missing a wheel. I put a new wheel on it and gave it the spa treatment and now it's good as new! VCCC people - it will be at the Convention tomorrow along with 8 other machines. Everything is already loaded in the rental car for the trip. We're leaving at 2 am tomorrow!

Electrolux G

Great find and rescue!The hose and Power Nozzle is later.One of the great features of Elux is that so many attachments interchange.It has the genuine replacement plug.It is the round shape so that when used on 1205 and later models the cordwinder can be removed with the plug fitting through the opening for cord.To install it properly a knot is tied in the cord inside the plug.Cost on this years ago was $10-$15.

Speaking of the plug

I test drove this vacuum in my bedroom today, power nozzled the carpet, and dusted everything, and when I was done, I pulled the plug, and it was extremely HOT! I used my infrared thermometer, and it said the prongs were 120 degrees. Ah - I DON'T think this is normal. Any ideas?

Has a replacement hose and Power Nozzle. I will post a ad to show the correct hose and PN. The canister also has a genuine replacement plug. Take that plug apart and check to make certain the connections are strong and clean, that could be your problem.

I phixed it

I took the plug apart, and I discovered that the previous repairman was a slob. The wires were not held on very well at all, the hot was about to come off. I retwisted the copper and wound it around the screws and tightened them down good. I also put a bunch of liquid tape in there for good measure. It is not getting hot anymore. Warm yes, but not hot. The picture is the wires as found in the plug.

As I stated before...That is NOT the original plug, it is a genuine Electrolux replacement. The original would have either been a white Beldon, or a non removable molded on plug.

Electrolux replacement plug

This is the genuine plug that will fit through the cord opening in the side of the metal body Elux in case of future service/repair.Not all were installed properly.The correct way is to tie a knot just below the 2 prongs that will be INSIDE the plug as it all goes back together.Slightly difficult,easier if rubber parts are warm and will survive repeated bumps as cord rewinds.
