Lux 5000 -- 2 models?

Below is a pic from an eBay listing for a Lux 5000 which I thought was the last version of the Ambassadors since I have only known about the ones that are Model C101K. The Ambassadors were, of course, the budget model without the automatic shut-off feature when the bag is full.

So, I was surprised to see that the machine shown in the pic has the automatic dial. Does this mean that there were two models of the Lux 5000, or do you think that the exhaust diffuser was switched out with, say, a Lux 5500/C141G which was an automatic cleaner? I don't know if "Lux 5000" would have been marked on the sides where the Electrolux logo is usually placed, because there are no photos that show that. If not, it would be easy to change a canister's name.

This vacuum appears to be an assembled piece with several replacements having been done. There was damage to the rear and top as evidenced by the the pieces that don't match. The power nozzle, hose and wands are from a 6500 or early legacy and the floor tool is also from another machine.

There also seems to be a 5500 model with ew and some without so I guess it was when they were produced or just rebuilt with different composites?? Those were on Ebay under Aerus vacuum.

there is a 5500, but it should only have steel wands. Electric wands and PN are replacements. Though if I'm wrong it won't be the first time. But the only manual I can locate for the 5500 shows steel wands.

I did a little digging and discovered that there were at least 2 models of the Lux 5000 that were manufactured: the manual one, as I mentioned in my previous post, that was the last in the line of the Ambassadors (Model C101s) and an automatic version which was a Model C141C--the same as the 2100s (not the Hi-Tech 2100s or Model 2100s) and the Lux 5500 which was a Model C141G. What I haven't been able to find out is what all the other C141s were. I know the C141 A, B, and F were named 2100, but I'm not sure about the D and E; so it could be that those were named Lux 5000 and Lux 5500. I also wonder what the differences are between the Lux 5000 and Lux 5500 (Model C141s).

The model ids, by the way, are embossed on the inside cover--often under the rubber gasket of the hose intake. The Aerus cleaners all have labels--typically on the bottom or back of the machine (depending on whether its a tank, upright, or buffer). I don't know about the Cetnraluxes, Pureluses, LaundryPro, or air purifiers.

My research didn't confirm anything about the wands. As you mentioned, Tom, I'm thinking that some or many of the machines on eBay have had parts and attachments switched out which makes it hard to know for sure if they were original with the machine. About the only thing a person can do to be certain is find a knowledgeable Aerus associate that has organized archived records or an original owner.

And also they could have been done at Aerus as an upgrade from the sw to the ew because they asked me once when I had my neighbours in for regular service if I wanted to upgrade which was a couple hundred more for the different hose, nozzle, wands & attachments which I declined. I guess business was slow for him because the repair room was void of any machines & had my neighbours done in 1 day. When I went back in there for bags for my Fresh Era he was hinting for me to come on board for a certain amount & red flags were flying everywhere that he was trying to unload his failing business.

So you didn't think you could turn the business around? You give me the impression that you're in the same league as Tom and could do it.

I'm guessing that you either are or have been an Aerus associate. Is that correct?

No, I'm not associated with Aerus, just a patron helping out a friend who knows how to repair vacuums & I get the feeling that the man @ Aerus bought into the franchise not knowing what he was getting into, that's all.

I'd encourage you to take the franchise owner's hint and consider going to work at the franchise with the possibility of taking it over or at least being a co-owner and turning it into a profit-making business. You seem to have a good business sense anyway, and your knowledge and use of vacuum cleaners (Aerus and those in general) would give you a leg up.

I'd like Aerus to succeed (including the one you've mentioned), because I think it has a good product line to offer the public. However, it seems that they need a more effective training program along with more individuals who possess a strong business sense and ethic and placing a higher priority on customer need and satisfaction (not just using them as profit makers).

My two-cents anyway. I'm on the outside looking in, too, so I don't know about all the ins and outs of selling vacuum cleaners or owning a franchise.

Then, can you find information on a Model C141C? That's what the lister of the Lux 5000 pictured in my initial posting said the model was.

So I just bought the 5000 at a local pawnshop. Is the dusting brush combination tool supposed to clip on the top like most Electrolux canisters? Because it would seem hard to do with the tool adapter

Based on this pic from the manual, it appears that only the tool and not the adapter is supposed to be attached to the clip?

That model should have come with the old style hose,  wands and power nozzle. That holds the small crevice tool and combo brush. Just like their Classic Model today.

There should be a small 3 or 4 inch crevice tool that goes under the clip. You can still find them on ebay at times.
