Great find today, an Electrolux 30 with attachments for $3.oo. I needed two of the attachments for the one I have so this just the right price. Two questions I have. What was the original hose color for this, I have two of the hoses and each are different, I am wondering if I have one that would have been original. Also, the rubber carrying handle is better on the one I found today than my original. Does anybody know if I can change them out?

Handles

You can easily switch out the handles on XXX's. When you lift up on the handle you will see a screw exposed in the front trim piece. Remove that screw and the trim will come off giving access to the front handle pin, pull that out to remove handle at the front end. The rear is a little more involved. Remove the filter/exhaust diffuser cover. Next remove the rear motor cover by removing the two (usually) brass colored nuts from the cover bolts, the cover will now come off. Pull the two wires/terminals straight out of the front of the switch. They don't unscrew, held in by friction. Look at the switch mounting L-shaped bracket and note how it is attached to the rear cover. Now remove the screw on the bottom of the switch, the switch, and it's cover will lift out of the motor cover to expose the rear handle pin. change out your handles and reverse the procedure to re-assemble. Make sure you put the gasket back on the rear motor cover where it meets the vacuum body. Remember to plug the switch terminals back in. They will fit snug up against the switch body. That's it...Nice new handle.

Hit the Jackpot......

Thanks for the postings, I will switch these out tomorrow! The great part of the story is that inside a jelly jar with a white filter inside was an envelope with $100.00 in cash in it! I couldn't believe my eyes, the bills are crisp and have a printing date of 1969 on them. I wonder who was saving for what?
