About one month ago, my all plastic upright vac. gave up it's ghost. On a hunch,I visited my local Goodwill store. There I found an electrolux model 1205 with power nozzle and updated hose, all working and looking good, selling price $4.95.Not knowing if bags were available,I visited the local vacuum shop. There I found a Royal model 189 circa 1945-1953 in working condition,$40.00. After much polishing I returned to show it off. There I found a Hoover model 700 circa 1926-1929 also in working condition again $40.00. I use the Hoover every day .I enjoy hearing it run.Wow,ninety years and still working.

All kidding aside, it sounds like you've found a good group of vacuum cleaners and broken the plasticrap cleaner habit in the process. And as you've discovered, it can be addicting. I don't know much about vintage Royals and Hoovers, but that Electrolux 1205 is a real workhorse and you totally stole it at $4.95. Just so you know, bags for the 1205 (type C) are readily available--and dirt cheap when bought in quantity--on eBay. Many people on here swear by the HEPA fabric bags recently discontinued by Perfect but I find the generic 4-ply paper ones to be more than acceptable, especially at around 50 cents a bag.

wow. you scored!!

congrats to you and great to hear you polished it up...AND ....actually USE that really old Hoover, ( tipping hat towards you in respect)
