Welcome to the group!

If you’re looking for a lot of vacuums to kickstart your collection, I’d recommend a trip to Elizabethton Tennessee to see my friend Jimmy Martin. Take a look at the thread “Vac Shop Clean Out and Downsize” I was there yesterday and posted over 60 photos of some of the vacuums he has that he want to sell. I came home with a pickup truck loaded down with vacs, parts, hoses, bags, belts, etc. he’s VERY reasonable on prices, and there’s some awesome BBQ places to eat at while you’re there. An added bonus, if you like to read, he has a bookstore as well that’s busting at the seams with neat old rare books!

Welcome! Cool to see some younger collectors finding this place!

If you haven't already, I am sure you have, check thrift stores weekly for vacuums. I've seen vacuums a lot of time at Goodwill I was just about to pay way too much for on eBay and got them a lot cheaper. Just have to be patient.

Other than that there's cruising around the city on trash night looking for those plastic handles sticking out of trash bins and piles.

Maybe ask around local vacuum repair shops if they have any un-repaired or un-refurbished used vacuums they could sell you cheaply.

Searching for specific models though is pretty tricky, yes. I have quite the list too.

Plastic handles sticking up from garbage bins-If I see a METAL handle in the bin-will stop to check it out-if its an all plastic handle-I just keep going!Exceptions may be for Kirby handles. Most of the vacuums I have seen in garbage bins lately have been dead, dirty, bagless ones.

I just gave ChicagoMike (here on VL) about 200 vintage vacuums from my store room at the Vacuum Museum last week. He got that beautiful self propelled Eureka that I had and you want. Has seen maybe 30 minutes use. I'm sure he'll list it on eBay. Keep checking there.

I do have a small machine that isn’t on your wishlist, it’s a 2.6 amp Dirt Devil Plus handvac, but the issue is it is on the border between working and not working. See, the small silver stick that sticks out from a wire from the motor fell out. Before that, it would turn on and sound like an Electrolux PN. However this all occurred after I put it back together after cleaning it. Maybe if you strip the wire or insert a solder joint (or whatever it is) into the wire then remove the felt ring and see if that helps, but I have no idea what to do (and I regretfully haven’t had it looked at by my local vacuum store).
As for your other dream machines, check eBay, Craigslist, classified ads, thrift stores, goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. for what you’re looking for. The last 2 have online shopping where you can maybe find the vacuum(s) you’re looking for if you can’t find any at your local store.
