Looking for some help..

Hey everyone! I've been looking online for a while, and searching through the archives, but I have had no luck in finding any info on my Hoover. It is a model 705, not 704, with a replacement bag. Im looking for a yellow outer bag if anyone has one too. Anyways, the machine runs great, and I installed new brush strips, and cleaned it all up. I got it a couple months ago, but can't find any info what so ever. 


 


If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it!!

Also, the Hoover logo is the smaller sunken in version rather than the bigger glossy logo found on most convertibles I've seen online.

Model 705

The painted lower base-plate covering the agitator makes it a Canadian model, as your bottom "IDtag" states as well. Our 704 model, has been seen with both the Persian Gold snap outer-bag, and then a medium seal greige bag like what was on the 1070 and I believe it TOO had a snap closure.. The 704 IIRC was the B line cleaner to the then current 1070 as the A line cleaner. There was also the ubiquitous 704-01 w/ the Cord Reel that was a B line special that also had the same color hues, yet has never been seen with a seal greige bag.


So either could be used and be period correct IMHO. I'm not 100% sure if the seal greige color bags were replacements, or they were used during production filling gaps wen they ran out of the gold ones. which to me seems to be the more suitable answer. I learned/ was told that last bit of information from a source who has conversed with those that were in the know and would know if such a ideal was sound....

I would scour ebay with a fine tooth comb, every vacuum store within a manageable driving distance, and or make friends with those who have a parts stash, and casually drop hints...LOL Or,on the easy side of the earth; maybe someone just has one that they will share with you??

but it went to another collector, but keep a sharp eye out you'll find one when you least expect it...=)


im glad one of us got to you, so many times ive asked for Hoover Knowledge and have felt left in the dark....even though we have Hoover experts on here that should be willing to share there thoughts. Its almost if they want paid for there knowledge...lol....but im shure lives get busy, and things happen...

I have one.

Joe Kassock just got one at the convention. I have the similar one with the large badge, too.
Our model 70 saw the switch from the large badge to the smaller, sunken "sticker", about mid production. You'll see on the underside of some, that the big hole was filled in to accommodate the smaller sticker. It was all cost reduction. Mr. Dick Pike, himself told me that it illiminated the little metal prongs, etc. It also didn't get dented or scratched as the big metal ones did. Our metal bottom plate was also never painted, in contrast to the Canadian ones. I have a Canadian HOOVER from the vault, which I'll show you soon. I hope this helps a little, with no charge at all.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm glad to know that I can count on you guys for information. I had no idea that the American base plates weren't painted! Kinda strange, but the paint wears off anyways. Also, I located a bag! John Gregory happened to have a spare!
