Electrolux advertising
You should be able to find ads starting in the early 50s.Before this Electrolux 'advertising' was the in home demonstration and word of mouth referrals.I have, somewhere, an advertising text book explaining Elux testing magazine ads to see if this would increase demos when a salesman was at the door. One early ad did not show the vac(MoLX)perhaps in the tradition of the"He(or She)Drives a Duesenburg"ads. There was generally 1 ad a year in the spring. Many were in 'Good Housekeeping'magazine as this also allowed the claim of the 'GH Seal of Approval'.Good luck. There are several nice ones including a 2 page 'Out Pops the Dirt'for LX and a 1 1/2 page for the Automatic F.-The advertising book also explained that Hoover did a lot of TV advertising in the 50s and beyond with much on the 'Today' show-Elux did almost no television but did have ads for Olympia and Discovery II.
