Looking For Hoover Videos

Before I started collecting vacuums, I would often browse vacuum web-sites for hours and learn about the company's products. Since at the time I had just learned to read, I would often rely on videos to learn information. The Hoover website was very good for videos, and I am currently trying to find these videos again to watch and archive. I am hoping someone here can help me.

The main video I am in search for is what I think is some sort of news report that included the Hoover Caddy Vac. I think I remember this video most clearly because my grandmother owned a Caddy Vac herself, but I thought a was a good video. Thankfully the Internet Archive has archived Hoover's storyboard version of this video, so you guys have something to look at. I have contacted Hoover and the Hoover Historical Center and they say they do not have this video in their archives.

My hope is that I can find at least some of these videos to put in my vacuum archive. If anyone has one of these videos saved or knows where I can find a copy, it would be a big help. I am mostly interested in the Caddy Vac video and an advertisement for the Hoover Windtunnel canister.

Hoover videos

I remember seeing segment of building Elites and some of testing at Hoover factory on the 'How do they do that' show possibly on Learning Channel.The beginnings of Hoover video would probably be short films supplied to early theaters to insert before or during movies as both entertainment and advertising.Actualy sort of antique infomercial.Does anyone remember the first WindTunnel TV ad with the animated cyclone that was shown on national news just before a story of real tornado that hit east side of Cincinatti?

I never thought of that. The ads would be perfect for theaters. I am going to try to find that Elite video you mentioned. It seems very interesting. Thanks for responding!

I had a Soft and Light Convertible and Bagless when I was a little kid. (former was bought back in 1992 by my father, and latter was bought in 2000, and it was my first bagless vacuum). They are long gone, replaced with a Eureka bought in 2003, 3 Kenmores bought from 2007-2009, and went to my first Windtunnel upright in 2011 (bought a week before Hurricane Irene striked).

Soft and Light was okay, but it was thrown out somewhere in 2006 because of old age. The attachments were thrown out because they got old.

Bagless was dead in 2003 due to a bad motor. It was my first bagless vacuum, but it was a nightmare to clean.

Eureka was dead in 2007, replaced with a Kenmore. Eureka was a good vacuum, but the brushroll would not shut off, and it still rotated when upright.

Kenmores-Bagged was replaced twice within 2007 and 2009. It was okay. Bagless...I hated because of the filter. That died in 2011.

I had a Dirt Devil Ultra hand vac. I never liked it because it was loud, and it didn't have enough attachments.

I had a Steamvac All-Terrain since 2007, and it works great.

I have my Windtunnel upright, and it cleans great, if only the hose didn't shrink when attachments were used. Oh, and the brushroll no longer shuts off except when upright. And the headlight on it never worked.

I also had a Shark canister from 2006. It died in 2007, and I never liked it because it was a nightmare to clean.

What was it about the Soft n light that you did not like? I see that we were born only a few months apart, and I too had an Elite-style machine as a young child, but my opinion is different from yours.

I have always thought the Elite-style machines cleaned extremely well for what was available at the time and last quite awhile considering most of them sold for under $200.

By the way, if anyone needs any information or publications on Hoovers made within the last 30 years, I can popularly find something. I have gigabytes of Hoover scans and vacuum ads I can post.

Do you have any scans of clean air Hoover uprights from the late 80's to the early 00's? I always found those interesting! Thanks so much!

There was nothing I hated on the Soft and Light, aside from the attachments that later got thrown out because they were getting old. My dad got it at an unknown store back in the early 90's (it has been out of business for years).

Clean air Hoover uprights from the 80s? I don't think made any after they sold the Dial-a-Matic design to Panasonic. I do have Dial-a-Matic scans though. I have scans of most models from the mid 70s until around 1993. Is there a particular model you are interested in?

Can you upload the scans, with the videos you got from the archived website on Hoover?

No, I meant the early clean air uprights from the 90's! haha I'm sorry. What I meant was any clean air uprights from around '89 to '00, for example the windtunnel. Thank you for your time.
