hi, I found VacuumLand while trying to get our central vac fixed... I am hoping a centralvac aficionado can help us. We've been in our house for 40 years, and it came with a central vacuum system which we love! Our son came equipped with severe allergies and we have some ourselves, and I have always loved the "cleanliness" and lack of odor when using the central system. It has served us well but recently it has developed what we think is an electrical problem, and we haven't found anyone local who can track down the issue. From reading the threads here I can see that many members have a lot of knowledge about central vacuums, and we are hoping someone out there can help us track down a repair person. The only information about the system that we have is that the old canister was replaced a few years ago with a Power Star III canister. Can anyone out there help? I'm attaching a photo of the first-floor vacuum pipe port, for whatever help that might be.

Electrical problem...is the system failing to activate when the hose is inserted?

If you hear a small "click" from the canister when you insert the hose, but the motor won't start, there's a 99% chance the motor has failed and needs to be replaced.

If that does not describe your issue, can you share more about what's happening?

A picture of the canister would help too.
