Looking for Electrolux

<span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; color: #0000ff; font-size: medium;">I have a minor collection of vintage Electrolux vacuums.  Looking for a pristine Model G (either color) and a Model AF.  I know, who isn't.  The attachments and hoses are not important to me, just the vacuum.  </span>

<span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; color: #0000ff; font-size: medium;">My collections currently consists of  two XXX's, an LX (purchased from the original owner.  Came with instruction manual and the orginal sales receipt), Model AE, and my Olympia (which I purchased brand new).  The Olympia, IMHO, was the last of the great Electrolux vacuums.  It seems after that model, the quality declined.  My Olympia is still in excellent condition, although I no longer use it as my daily driver.  That responsibility now belongs to my Miele Champagne.  A superior machine in everyway.</span>

They...

routinely go through ebay....but you'll pay a bit, especially with shipping. Depends on how much you value vacuum collecting, I guess. Compared to other hobbies I have, non-rare vacuums are still comparably cheap. The turquoise G is my favorite and yet I've warmed up to the two 1205's finally. I consider the G the last, great classic LUX vacuum. YMMV

If you live near a big city, dredge the thrifts-even garage/yard sales. I never see them here. My theory is that the people in this town who originally were able to afford them, were also the kind of people that kept 'moving on' in vacuums.

Given their popularity among vacuum collectors, if a model G in pristine condition shows up on ebay be prepared for a bidding war.  There are still a few likely to be found hidden away in some grandma's closets so never miss an opportunity to rack up some good karma and stay on good terms with your vacuum fairy godmother/father!  Some pretty rare and wonderful vacuums still show up in estate sales or even on craigslist here so I stay tuned into those sources as much as I'm able.  Or, as many of us poor mortal vacuum nuts have to do is set our sights a little lower and take a machine in relatively good, if well-used condition and then keep a lookout for bits and pieces and a parts-donor machine or two, and spend some time and effort to bring it back to lustrous condition.  I had a model G back in the 80's which was in excellent condition but I gave it to a friend in-need.  Hopefully another one will come my way someday.

totally agree with that; craigslist, thrift stores and estate/garage sales are the way to go these days for any kind of reasonable vacuum/parts pricing. I'm not doing anymore collecting until I polish up my PN-2 Anniversary model for the 1205's and go completely through it.

Too many hobbies, too little time and too many people wanting me to build/fix things for them.:-(
