Looking for Electrolux Xtreme & Xtreme Plus Info.

I'm wondering if Electrolux's Xtreme/U129B and Xtreme Plus/U139A were made for commercial use? Also, were they sold directly by Electrolux, or through distributors? They look like commercial cleaners to me, but unlike others they don't indicate that on the the outside from what I've seen in photos.

commercial vacuums...we had them at the hilton hotel when I worked there in the 90's....replacing the older prolux model. good vacuum...

Hmmm ... the color scheme is the same as the commercials, but the Xtreme Plus's manual cover doesn't specify 'commercial', so maybe it was just a heavy-duty household version like the Prolux line.

A telltale sign might be whether it has a two-prong or three-prong plug. Commercial machines generally have a three-prong plug, whereas household models have two prongs.

I know, for example, that the Proluxes only had the two-prong cords. At least that's all I've seen. I know they made several successive models and one does have "Commercial" stamped on the base by the "Prolux" lettering.

In the '90s Electrolux Corp. experimented with different sales lines besides its door-to-door one. Going by memory, they were premium store, catalog, QVC, and fair/trade show. I'm guessing that the Xtreme and Xtreme Plus were sold through one of the indirect lines as household cleaners.

Just skimmed the XP manual and didn't see the word 'commercial' used at all. Interestingly, though, the illustrations showed a 3-prong plug, and the warranty for the motors and belt was 2 years--which was standard for commercial cleaners (standard household ones were typically covered for 5 years since the Super J. I know more recent ones such as the Lux Guardian Ultra & Lux Guardian Platinum were longer still.
