I've been cleaning for a college access center near me for about a year, and have been using a $69 bagless Bissell that entire time.. It's now worn out and in need of quick replacement. I just got the ok from my manager to spend up to $500, and I want a wide cleaning path (16-18") since we have a pretty large open area to clean. What would be my best buy for the money? I'm looking at the 18" Bissell Big Green($499) or 16" Bissell Big Green (same style as sanitaire?) Or 16" Sanitaire? Also see an 18" Royal for around $499.. I do want disposable bags and the more filtration the better.. I'm not dealing with an excess of dirt, we are located inside a mall, so very little outside dirt. Glued down carpet tiles in all areas. My only reasoning for wanting a commercial unit is the wide path, longer cord, and hopefully longer life (the $69 Bissell still looks new but is coming to the end of it's useful life quickly) I normally vacuum for about an hour twice a week. If I'm overlooking something, point me in the right direction!

I just got another text from my manager asking me to send her a link by 1pm tomorrow, the person that does the ordering will be in the office. I knew I would be needing this advice soon, but maybe not this soon haha!

The 18" Bissell would be my choice from the list. But what I would recommend over the Bissell is either the Windsor Versamatic 18 or the Lindhaus RX 450E. If you get lucky, you might be able to find a used one for right around your budget.

Definitely going to have to go with new given the budget.. The last vac was $69 at the Target next to the office!

I'm not seeing the 18" Big Green for $499 now unfortunately, looks like at least $599 now, and over budget. I wasn't expecting to get $500 so not going to push it. I am seeing a Pro team 15" Hepa upright for around $400, and being that I will have a properly working vacuum, maybe a 15" machine wouldn't be too bad? Pretty sure the one I'm using currently is 12-13"?

There’s also the Hoover hush tone 15inch model. From what I’ve heard it’s a great vacuum and at only $318 right now on Amazon it’s a really good deal. Plus since it’s clean air you don’t have to worry about breaking a fan and it has a lifetime belt so the only replacement item would be the bags. It sounds like this would be the best option for you.

The ProForce 15" is nice, those wouldn't be a bad choice. I would also consider looking into the ProGen 15", you don't have to get a screwdriver to remove the brushroll.

I ended up going with the ProForce 15", but not before offending (or pissing off?) The office manager "because it looks like a dinosaur.. Don't you want a shark or something "nice"? Nope.. We need a commercial vacuum.. Ok FINE and hung up on me lol! (I had already approved the purchase through our director) I did look at the ProGen but it looked clunky to me. Should be here by the weekend so we will see how things go.

Good choice.

Those proteams are a pretty good machine and the availability of lux upright parts means a fairly low consumables cost. It should serve you well.
