Kenmore canister vac that was made between 1961 and 1965. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact model or have a picture of it, but I can describe it: It was shaped like rounded in the front and squared in the back. The bottom part of the machine was dark green, and the top was off white or cream colored. It did not have a power nozzle and there was an attachment caddy that could be clipped on top of it. It had the exhaust port on the bottom of the machine. My mom's machine did not have the magic cord feature, but her friends did and a PN, so I guess there were variations on this model. I'd like to find one because it is the first vac I remember, and it has sentimental value. Any help in locating one would be greatly appreciated.

It is similar, but the machine I'm remembering did not have the attachment caddy built into the top of the machine. It was a separate unit that attached to the top of the machine. The carrying handle was held on by two screws under the suction port. The front of the machine was rounded and the back was squared, and it would stand up on it's hind side. I don't hold much hope of finding one, but you never know. I'll try to draw a picture of what I remember (don't laugh too hard. Drawing is not my strong suit ). But maybe someone will recognize it.

The one you want is----

1963 or 1964, green fiberglass base with either oyster white top or pale pink, tool caddy turns slightly to unlatch it and lifts off, Lady Kenmore was 2 speed with cord reel, very thick cord. The one I want is a 1962 Lady Kenmore Whispertone,pink with a L shaped powerhead.

But it didn't have a connector for the PN, that I remember. Thank you for posting the pic. It's the closest I've seen in a long time!

Except my Mom's was a single speed without the PN socket, and no magicord. I'd really like to find one someday.

Thank you so much, but that's not it. My Mom's machine looked more like the one in the catalog page posted earlier. The attachment caddy wasn't a permanent part of the lid, but was removable. The one in your picture looks newer than the one I remember, but the attachments look like what I remember.

In the early days, Kenmore offered you the choice of several machines, some included the power teams...others gave you the option to have the tools you wanted. You could choose the canister you wanted and then add the tools.

So, you could purchased the machine that had the powerhead outlet on the machine ,but not order it. The Methodist Church in town had a top end canister, but no power head. The outlet was on the machine, they later added the powerhead when they had to purchase a new hose. That machine was a work horse and lasted almost 20 years.
