Looking for a couple of items....

You may have seen one of my earlier posts about fixing up a Hoover Model 541 Special and while it functions as it sits, I would like to do a little more to it. I have ordered a new cloth covered cord for it, but would like to see if anyone would possibly have the round switch knob that went to the switch on the base beside the motor. I believe it was a heavy chrome knob that was textured on top. The other item I would love to get is an original Hoover plug (round) that had the word HOOVER embossed on it. If anyone has these items, please let me know! Thanks!!

The first Hoover model to have the plug embossed with the Hoover logo was the 700. Earlier machines had those flat, round plugs made of metal and some of bakelite (probably later models or replacement plugs) with a spring coming out of the cord end. I imagine quite a few people got zapped by that.

The plug on the end of the Hoover 541 Cord looked like this. It had to be screwed into a light socket.

I'd say you're right, that design with the metal spring probably zapped quite a few unsuspecting folks! I didn't realize that plug with the Hoover logo came out with the 700, but certainly makes sense since that's where I got the idea from, my model 700's plug! I've seen those plugs like the ones you've shown on eBay so they may not be as difficult to obtain as I originally thought...now that switch knob...that may be a different story!
