Interesting article

but too brief, and he makes an erroneous claim that the 1925 Scott & Fetzer was the first upright with detachable tools. There were already any number of uprights with attachments by that time, not the least of them the Hoover which had detachable tools almost from the very start. I don't know if the Model O had attachments but I have seen photos of a very similar model to the Model O that had attachments.

Eureka, Ohio, Royal, Air-Way, Bee-Vac, Cadillac, G.E., Hamilton Beach, Sweeper-Vac, Universal, Westinghouse ....... even the Sears Energex all had attachments well before 1925. Just to name a few. Actually, Kirby was somewhat of a latecomer!

I agree...

...it was not well written and had many inaccuracies. But what was interesting to me was simply the fact that such an article existed by this fellow who seems to be self appointed as an "expert." What's with all these self styled "critics," of vacuum cleaners out there? On this particular site alone there are numerous links to apparent reviews and assessments of vacuum cleaners.

What I thoght was especially "curious," was the link entitled "...real truth about the Dyson." It gives the impression of an honest critique, but ends up being more of an advertisement and promotion.

Right.

The Wild, Wacky World of Vacuum Cleaners is well stocked with self-appointed experts isn't it!

I have always found it amusing how the best machine, in many of these "experts'" opinion, is the one they are selling. What a coincidence! *smirk*
