Longer Hose....

My mother has a Miele C1 Electro Plus and inquired about a longer hose for it. I know there is a 4 foot extension hose on their site for it, but I don't think it supports the electric... but I'm not sure since details are lacking.

Is there one on the aftermarket or something that has a bit more length? Her home has lots of furnishings and stuff, so it's easy for the canister to bump into all the stuff.

No. Miele does not have and kind of electric add-on hose! Wish they did. When I used a Miele years ago, I had the same thought!

Isn't it true that you lose suction for every foot of hose? Or does that just apply to the expanding stretchy hoses?

Well my shopvac 16 gallon has a 24 foot hose not much suction lost but does have a bigger motor .
I did notice a small difference on my Compact when i made a longer hose .

There IS loss through a hose

There is some loss through a hose. Thinner diameter and longer length hoses do have more loss. I know this first hand from my Central Vacuum... However even with 45 foot of hose on it, there's still enough power to get the job done. In the case of this canister, I was hoping for an extra 3-5ft.

There will always be a loss which increases with an increase in hose length. If air were inviscid, this would not be the case, but of course air does have viscosity.

However, increasing your vacuum hose length by a foot or two would probably cause only a negligible pumping loss.
