lindhaus canisters

Was wondering if anyone had experience with these and if so, what do you think? Are they good vacuums? There seems to be three of them, but I'm not sure which is better than the other. I saw one on youtube, and the motors sound awesome, kind of like the old electroluxes, not the high pitch sounding motors that are so common in other vacuums. First, there's the Aria red elite.

I'm assuming the elite is the top model, then the platinum and finally the hf6, but again, there is no way to tell for sure.

Loved mine but...

I've had the elite and platinum, two of the best canisters I've ever used esp when you have the two row brush roller that is standard in the platinum. But... The handle design that is used on other comanies like Bosch and pro aqua to name a few gets in the way when trying to use a dusting brush or upholstery tool at the end of the hose, you have to hold the handle on its side to get the job done or just attach it to the end of the wand. Both of mine suffered the same issue that the main unit would randomly cycle through speeds during use and would make this kind of grumbling noise and the unit would shake. These were very short lived when they happened but still an annoyance. Also when using the power nozzle and putting it in the upright position while brush is still on the nozzle shuts off like it's supposed to, once you release it the PN comes back on but the canister shuts down then immediately comes back on, this happened every other time and no dealer could explain it. The above issues happened equally to my elite and platinum, I was expecting more issues with the platinum and its display compared to the elite but they both acted up the same.

I was just thinking about buying a platinum again after I sold both of mine 3 years ago, they are just all around great. If you have a good dealer that can work resolving any issues than go for it. I will say those problems didnt mean I could not use the machine, it was just annoying little electrical gremlins. None of the above issues got any worse as time went on, my one dealer replaced both boards and said the machine is fine and if it does it again bring it in or just live with them since they are not doing any harm, so I just lived with them.

The power nozzle is fantastic, very smooth and like I stated earlier with the two row brush standard in the platinum it really digs/ agitates the carpet. I have a 12" quick disconnect I bought from lindhaus for my central vac, it has the same telescopic wand as the aria does just with a top to fit a standard CV hose. I also liked having the two carry handles, the one on the top is perfectly placed.

Feel free to ask more questions, like I said I'm thinking about buying a platinum again. I'm sure in the couple of years they may have improved the electronics, I know the PN on the platinum now has LED lights. Al from lindhaus even told my dealer my electronic issues were a common problem they were trying to sort out.

Lindhaus Canisters

I've owned an Aria Elite and Platinum, and i also owned a HF-6 but it never functioned well due to it being poorly cared for.

I liked the Arias, i was surprised to learn it had a single stage motor in it. With it's old tapered hose it could pull a 7.5 on the baird meter, and with the newer, updated, hose it could pull a 5.5 which is still pretty impressive. It's power nozzle and floor tool are some of the best I've used. They were known to have issues with their hoses, and i didn't really care for the flat cord.

With the HF-6 I never really got to see it's full potential. When it came to me it was clogged to hell, and looked at those someone had used it as a bagless machine. The pre motor filter crumbled at my touch, the baffles were full of dirt, and the airflow was pretty pitiful. I ended up taking it apart, and when i got it back together the circuit board failed. It's too bad, I think i would have liked it, Well other than the really long hose.

aria and hf6

Found out some more info. Apparently the aria comes in 3 models, a straight suction model, the elite which has the power nozzle, and the platinum which includes a display. Sounds like there were circuit board issues with the arias, that's why I try to avoid models with features like push button speed control, it's just more components that could fail. The HF6 is more of a commercial model and actually has a bigger motor than the aria. I was able to find a good deal on an HF6 so I bought it. Should be here next week. Since I have all hard floors, I just got the straight suction model, though apparently the circuitry for the electric hose is included and the electric hose could be purchased later. Since I do have some area rugs outside my door, I also bought the 14 inch Lindhaus universal power nozzle, apparently it has a pig tail cord so I can use it with my back pack vacuum which does have a connector to connect a power nozzle. The hf6 sounds like it will be a great machine.

got my hf6, what a beast!

Hey everyone, got the hf6 yesterday, it's awesome. Once I've had more time to play with it, I'll write a review. This is different than any other canister I have. It looks similar to a wet dry vac, though I don't think you can use it bagless, and even if you could, I would never do that. It's a great canister for sure!

Don't know if you knew this, but the HF6's origins IS that of a wet-dry vac. I do remember seeing on the Lindhaus website years ago a water-filtration version of the HF6....yes, you are reading right, & I do mean EXACTLY like a Rainbow. Don't know whether it used a separator or not, though. I will see if I can try to pull up some info on it later today for you & everyone else.

hf6 design

Kind of looks like arainbow actually. The floor brush it comes with is really nice, it's long, has bristles, but not a huge brush. It actually looks kind of like the floor tool that comes with come backpack models, the hose size is the same as Miele, but I have an adapter so I can use all of my standard attachments.
