"In 1961 when the Shetland company bought Lewyt"

Well Brian, that's one way to look at it, for sure.

What caused Lewyt assets to be up for sale was the electrocution litigation losses over the Lewyt Electronic Big Wheel that forced Lewyt Corp into bankruptcy. The full story has been related many times and can be found in the archives with diligent searching.

The final two Lewyt Big Wheels are the regular 'manual' Power Window model 120 in two-tone silver/gray metallic with chalk gray hose and tools, and the sky blue hammertone silver-topped model 121 Electronic with light gray electric hose, copper anodized wands & trim and silver PN, both offered in 1960.

Here is my 120 (and the 88 and debut 77) and the link takes you to a picture of Fred with his prizewinning 121.

Guess the best answer would be what incarnation of the Lewyt? Alex Lewyts company (1961) Shetland/ Lewyt (late 80's) or the Asian made Lewyt of the early 2000's?
