Well here I am again. I purchased a Lewyt and it wasn't packed properly. The tool caddy shattered. Does anyone have any ideas for repair or where I can get another one. The rest of the machine is in really good condition. The picture is what it looked like before shipping.

Well, I'd try gluing the 3 broken parts together, and then gluing those back on the machine. Then you can gently sand along where it was glued so it does not look so bad. If it is done right it should look ok.

I think your fairly lucky actualy. When you said it had shattered I expected to see complete destruction, but it is still workable.

If it was me, I'd file a damage claim against the seller. They should have packed it properly. It's just a matter of taking the time to do it. This is one of the more rare Lewyt models, it's a real shame it got damaged.

Barring that, Crazy Glue will at least put the pieces back together. If you do it carefully, the seams will still be visible but better than having it broken. The trick is to not use too much glue, just 3-4 'dots' on each piece and then hold it securely in place for a couple of minutes until it sets. You don't want to use so much glue that is oozes out along the crack -- that makes a mess that's impossible to fully clean up.

Good luck,

You might try JB Weld, in sparing amounts, to piece the jigsaw back together. It is disappointing to see this machine fractured due to lack of care. That needs to be stated in the seller's feedback.

I tried to piece it together. Unfortunately before it broke it bent. Since it is cast pot metal it will snap if I try to get back into shape. The little pieces are bent and flattened and not curved anymore. It hit so hard that it caved in the back where the caddy attaches. I actually fixed the body before I took the picture.

I would be having the sender put in a claim against the shipping company as well. There is no excuse for that type of handling, bad packing or not.

You're very lucky that thats all the damage. Most times the knobs that the crevice tool and dusting brush go on broke off first.

(Just as an aside the parts shown on the machine are not from it - the originals were white - the Purple small nozzle was from either the model 66, 77 or 97 and I believe the dusting brush is from a 81 or 103 although I'm not totally certain of that one)

I do have the instruction manual for the 105 as well. Drop me an email and I'll send you a scan of it.
