here is mine.....

My first Kirby was the Kirby Classic in the 70's. Back then the Kirby dealers displayed the newest model in the showroom window. I worked in Hamilton Ohio at a division of Sherwin Williams and drove by the Kirby dealer on Main Street going to work each day. What a breath taking machine at the time.....Anyway I went in and was able to run one in the dealership. I could have bought it right then, but $500 in the early 70's was a lot of money for me....Anyway, I did buy it several months down the road and they actually brought it to me at the paint store. I bought it on a monthly payment plan back then. I think it was for 3 years. This made it affordable for me at the time.

Anyway, I eventually gave it to my mom and she used it for years with the agreement that I would empty the bag from time to time and keep it running. My mom's girlfriend borrowed it when she was doing her spring house cleaning to clean her house from top to bottom. Anyway, that was my first Kirby, a truly dazzling machine at the time. I found one on ebay and sent it for a rebuild. Here is a picture of it. It is still part of my collection.
