Let's go vacpacking...

How to pack 14 vacuums, several boxes, hoses, wands & tools, a laptop & a small overnight suitcase into a Subaru Legacy...and keep it all below the gunnels...er...windowsills to the landlubbers.
1. Lower rear seatback. Place wand sections and small items not previously boxed up on floor behind front seats.
2. Begin by laying down a layer of Electrolux Canisters.

walk around to other side and check closed door clearences.

4. Create divider behind first layer with long thin boxes of accesories. Place smaller low boxes across first layer. Add odd shaped objects and hose/wand cominations that refuse to separate scattered around the driveway.

6. in the rear section, place 2 cube boxes of Roll-Easy & stuff against divider. In the remaining cavity artfully arrange 4 drum style vaccums according to diameter against the sides. Fill center position with motor housing & bag of Kirby with handle removed. Now there is just enough room for two stacked canisters across the back with the tailgate closed. Tuck in 'always carry 'em' bath towels between and around vacs. Add a layer of hoses, Kirby handle, non collapsing wands and whatever is left on the ground.

7. another layer of towel and secure cargo cover.

That brown and tweed Canadian ZB58 (I think)? is fabulous! I have an advertising pamphlet for it and have been lusting for one ever since I got the pamphlet.

The blue "Monitor" --- Gee, I am trying like mad to place it; I know there was an American make that was identical to it - Marty said it was a Kingston and maybe that was it. I was thinking Apex for some reason. Whatever it is, it's a pretty thing!

8. Close tailgate, check sightlines, Go have shower in airconditioned comfort, get directions to Tim Hortons and bid heartfelt farewell til next time to gracious host.

Get coffee and an iced cappaccino, turn up tunes, proceed eastward on cruisecontrol along virtually deserted hiway admiring the changing of the leaves til home base is achieved. Unload cargo in reverse order into domicile while dusk descends.
Immediately begin dissasembly, bumping out dents of aluminum sheet formed side trim bits and polish out these and cast aluminum ends & one piece handle of Monitor vaccum canister under the guise of simply replacing severed cord. Decide that such an art object really deserves a blue cord and resolve to begin looking for one or buy a cheap CanTire vac with a blue cord. Check reStore for same. Do not re-assemble until appropriate blue cord is obtained. Dark blue would be nice.
So, while its out clean motor brushes and commutator and test. Stop to continue posts to Forum, watch local news and get to bed at regular time for 9AM work commitments. Look forward to Tuesday evening off.

FWIW, the "monitor" vac probably had a black Belden-type cord.

Wow Dave, you and Pete made a killing in those thrift shops. Ours in this county aren't very promising. I bet Canada really swings in the collectable department. I love the Hoover Porta Power you found. I found one several months ago, and it only had the hose.
