After owning the new Hoover Windtunnel for one week I was thinging about how it would be fun to compare it with the Hoover model 63
They both have:Great Hoover emblem, light on front, blue color and attachments for above the floor.
Hoover Anniversary has:
Longer cord
more height adjustment
NO Leaking dust
No Dusty smell
More tool suction
dirt finder feature

MODEl 63 has:
Genuine Hoover beater bar
Tool set comes with stretch hose which was a $30.00 option for Anniversary model
Attachment set comes with Floor bush and tool case
MUCH MUCH MUCH QUIETER!
easier tool converstion and the machine does not fall over when the hose is stretched
Better instruction book-with Hoover Pride!
built in good old North Canton,Ohio
easy to open bottom plate and belt change
positive connect tool and wands

Just fun to compare!

No metal in the new machine that I can see,but it does have a piece of fake chrome on the front that I like. I was wrong about the stretch hose. A fellow vac collector told me that it wasn't until the model 64 that they used the stretch hose.

I have used a 63 adn There isnt alot of leaking dust if u say a kenmore canister hepa bag with it all sealed up it works very well.

Does anyone know how the "dirt finder" lights operate?
Mine only came on one time on the throw rug at the back door.
It is a good value at $140.00 but with just a few changes it would be great. I would like to see a longer hose, easier to change belt and please-a QUIETER motor. I think it is every bit as loud as my Oreck XL or my grandmother's Hoover Concept One. Even grandma hated the noise that the Concept One produced and she was hard of hearing!

I think taht there is a microphone that listens for how much dirt you suck up. If there is enough in the airflow the light will come on. Try throwing some sand or glitter on the rug then vacuuming. It might come on then. also check to see if the sensor is on hi or normal. This makes a big difference. THe high is for when you really need your carpets completly spotless.
