Assuming that you mean water inches lift (or "AirWatts", Dyson's colorful new term) rather than motor amperage draw.

Clear winner, far and away in this household. But first - tonight's survey...

The advantage of having vacuums shelved and racked is the cords and inlets are easily accessed without taking them down.

At the low end...
3 Compacts - 55 58 & 59"
2 GE Swiveltops - both 60"
American Electrolux (5 LX/ 1 E/ 2 AE/ 1 G) - 55-60"
Canadian Lux 88 - 60"

Mid Range...
Canadian Viking 107 - 65"
Sanyo Transformax - 65"
Lewyt 120 - 68"
Air-Way 55/66/77 - 65-71"
Electro Hygiene - 71"
Fairfax - 71"
Canadian Lux 86 - 70"

And the Champ is...

Filter Queen!

I have one 33 and three 700s, all Canadian made. The readings are 87", 89", 90" and 92".

Two of these, including the winner, have bins half full of debris and dusty cone filters. If you recall, Pete's FQ older model pulled 100" with ease last time out.

The only vac I have that pulls more than 100 is a cheesy little purple plastic PRC-made Everstar bagless HEPA from Homo Depot that screams like nails on a chalkboard on high speed. 120" but at that speed I suspect it would self-combust in a few minutes. Nasty annoying machine with an unwieldy plastic hose that moans and tembles like a banshee and the power nozzle power cord is a length of lamp cord running loose through the hose. Ugh. I'd rather Hirvy/Koober the carpets.

In the catagory of Most Powerful Looking vacuum I nominate the All Chrome, Red accented 2 speed Fairfax Battlestar Helmet for sheer intimidation. LOL

Most frightening and pointless itteration of the Plastic Modeler's Art - any Dyson.

Dave

For the record, the Canadian Lux 80 series are the quietest soothing vacuums while pulling strong. The Filter Queens are relatively quiet too but nowhere near as hushed as the Luxs.

Tonight's favorite most powerful vacuum.

Monday April 21.

Overhauled the $4 brown FQ 700 I got at last Thursday's Church sale, fixed the balky switch and parked the sparkling chrome power unit on yesterday's Woodstock find, the Black & Gray FQ Majestic tub with new filters & caster base & black tool ring accesorized with brown tools, attached the gray/black Majestic powerhose to the brown 700 power nozzle & wand and vacuumed the bedroom carpets.

First time I've been able to properly run the 'shoebox' PN. What fun.

And no lie, this Filter Queen Mutant pulls 98" !!!

The turquoise running shoes were a big happy hit at work along with the lemon yellow shirt over ice green shirt. I was 7 years old all over again. LOL

and mine are....

My two most powerful vacs are my Miele Solaris Electro Plus and my Model 700 Filter Queen. The Miele pulls 141cfm and the F/Q a very strong 100+cfm.
