Great find! I think I have one of those in my collection... :)

One thing I noticed was that the chassis has a circle for the Hoover emblem, but I cannot think of a model that had the emblem on the right hand side, except for America of course.

not sure of its age

but thanks turbo great brochures .i think i missed somthing [is it from 1977 ]what was that all about ? heres a pic of the rating plate i am sure someone can work the date out from that

Lol, Jamie has a 1977 Senior Ranger that he tends to bang on about quite a bit. It's ok though, he is the first to admit it, and it's sort of become a running joke amongst us. He'll drop his 1977 Hoover Senior Ranger into any possible conversation, the crafty devil ;)

Antony, if I'm not mistaken, that is an early Ranger - November 1975

i see

what you mean its really a bit of a con isnt it all they have done is fit a new hood over an old hoover senior yes its got one or two other refinements but its still just a yellow senior underneath it all i suppose some bright spark at Hoover said oh lets put the Hoover emblem on the right and make it even more not like a senior

ahhhhh

the jigsaw has just come together yes i have read at length tales of Jamies ranger its hard to believe this one is 38 years old i think it still looks quite modern never cared for the colour though i prefered the green version that the shake and vac woman had

motor out

ready for the usual strip and lube the motor brushes are fine but the motor is full of crap [quite normal for one of these after 30 odd years of vacuuming

fan off

will clean all this off and stuff the bearing with fresh grease. There are very fiew marks on the fan sugesting it hasnt had a lot of use these Hoovers are usually stuffed with muck if they have been well used but this one isnt too bad

You said this one would have to wait! Identical to my old US Made Convertible apart from the hood. They are lovely machines, and it rings a bell that Jamie has one, I think he is quite fond of it, and rightly so as they are good.

finished

ready to go back in the chassis i need to grease the height control and handle release they never seem to have any lube on them which is a shame because they work so much better with a bit of grease on them also the wheels if theres on grease on them the over time the hole in the middle just gets bigger you can also tell the difference when using a hoover thats been greased it just glides over a carpet with that droning sound no squeaks or rattles i even put a little light oil around the metal top of the switch i have changed loads of switches over the years all because they were jammed with dirt

i am waiting for

parts to arrive for another machine so i decided to make a start and there isnt a lot to do to this one .the bag has had a wash it was caked inside with dirt quite obvious that the paper bag had burst on a fiew occasions and there are signs of the dreaded shake and vac

all done

tried to copy the photo in the brochure apart from a fiew battle scars around the headlamp its as good as new
