Last vacuum always wins?

I conducted a little informal fun test ....vacuumed my upstairs areas 1.75 rooms for this test with my Kirby heritage II and 40 mins later out the dirt meter on another Kirby to see why the first one might have missed ( because many people say ‘ the last vacuum to clean wins’ aka whatever vacuum that come behind the first one will ALWAYS pic up what the first one didn’t . The dirt meter pad was almost perfect ( minuscule dust ) after cleaned the same 1.75rooms ( bedroom, hallway, and master bathroom that’s carpeted). Pretty impressive I’d say, what ya think ?

Impressive

Definitely impressive. I’d use one of these strong uprights if I had wall to wall carpet and a good back. Used to have a Eureka commercial upright. Yellow hood, blue bag model...it was impressive as well, but it made my back hurt too much and we moved to a house with all hardwoods so sold it at my garage sale for a very good price.

A good Central vacuum would be an excellent solution for your situation. I used a Beam central vacuum about 15 years ago that got my respect. The first vacuum of any design that could convince me to consider walking away from my Kirby.

Plug a hose into the wall jack and do your thing.

I also used a Dirt Devil built in vacuum with the hide a hose. I was not impressed with that one at all. Glad I used the Beam first.

My good fortune is that I don't have any medical conditions that makes using a Kirby to do my cleaning an option that is no longer possible. I'm sure some day that will change. As I don't have any Grandchildren like my Grandparents did to do the heavy cleaning for them. All they needed to do was pay the electric bill and keep an ample supply of belts on hand for me to wear out. That and keep my Grandmother from putting holes in the bags on "my vacuum" LOL

Considering you went from a newer machine to and older machine shows that the older machine is still a very good performer.

It only took me about 10 minutes one Saturday morning in January of 1972 do discover that my Grandmother was correct that I was going to like the New Kirby Classic much better than the Kirby 519 she just traded in for the new machine. We still have it and use it to clean what is now our family weekend get away. Some day it will be come a permanent piece in my collection of vacuums for sentimental reasons.

I was challenged to do my dirt meter test differently , so, this time I used my Royal 4000 (10.5 amp) vacuum first...2 sweeps only over an entire basement ( big) room. Then, I put the dirt meter on the Kirby Legend II to see what was caught afterwards. This result was a bit more debris than my test Monday using a Kirby Heritage II vac and then classic model with dirt meter). Not bad at all actually ( if you’ve ever used a dirt meter you’d notice that most people’s carpet cleaning with one will fill up the entire dirt pad in 2-5 swipes .
