Put pictures of three of them, number 4 is an AP-200 in pretty good shape.

Does anyone know what the small sun on the side and on the front of one of the 88's means ? It seems it is an early model of 88.

THe wall-paper model of Z55 has a black front cover instead of brown, I didn't notice when I bought it on the web.

The Electrolux trademark and brand was launched in August 1919 as a result of the merger of AB Lux and Elektromekaniska AB. The former was established in 1901 as a manufacturer of kerosene lamps and the latter in 1910 manufacturing motors for the Santo Staubsauger vacuum cleaner.

The 'sun', as you called it, represents AB Lux's namesake, which is the international unit for illumination. The original Electrolux logo featured the graphic, and Electrolux (Canada) Ltd. used it from its beginning through the 80s series of tank cleaners.

I believe the covering on the Z55 is called 'leatherette'. Too bad that the cover is black, but on the other hand it makes your cleaner unique.

I have friends who have them all. I've even had to use a few of them. One of my late father's friends was an Electrolux salesman. He tried, very hard, to get my dad to purchase one. Never happened. I DID get some old ones and sent them to people. the "J', for example. I shipped that thing clear across the USA.

Thanks Paul for the info, always a pleasure to read you. Leatherette sounds like an hybrid word half-English, half-French. In French we call cuirette something that looks like leather (cuir in French) but it's vinyl clothing.

Lux is the latin word for light, so it makes a lot of sense the logo refers to light.
