Kirbys and acid

Has anyone used the aluminum acid cleaner on kirbys to clean the aluminum up before polishing?

Hmm

The acid part got me. Pressure washing helps. There are a few tricks you learn what's good to do and what's not good.
Wire wheels no bueno. It took me 10 hours of sanding to fix it.

Hmm Let's see

If you use hydrochloric on aluminum, the hydrochloric acid will dissolve the aluminum and you end up with an aluminum sol that is the basis for catalyst, as in the catalyst in your catalytic convertor.

So depending on what type of acid it is you can have some fun and educational scientific experiments.
