Does anyone know if someone manufactures Style 1 bags for a Tradition in the HEPA material?    Or has anyone figured out how to adapt a HEPA bag to fit a Tradition?  I'm guessing the answer is no, but it's worth asking because I love my Tradition and would use it all the time if it filtered better.  And, I don't want to change the fill tube; I really want to keep that part original.

Fill Tube...

That part NEEDS to be replaced because the Tradition's fill tube is so narrow, it really cut back on airflow. So, even if you could fit a hepa bag, it wouldn't do any good.

Heritage Style 2

Just out of curiosity one day I took a Eureka RR HEPA bag,and was able to modify it to fit my Kirby Heritage with the style 2 fill tube. I held it on with some zip ties but have not had any problems with it coming off, but I dont use it that much. I just happen to have some extra bags is why I choose the type RR bags and didn't really want to change the fill tube. Trying to do it to a Tradition might be harder and may not work since the fill tube is so small.

I'm not too familiar with Kirby bags (how the bag collars are set up), but with some Hoovers, I've successuflly (and carefully) torn the cardboard collar off of both bags (HEPA and Non-HEPA), and glued the collar I need onto the HEPA bag with fabric glue. Let it sit for a day or so with a book on top of it. I've done this with the Filtrete type Y bags and Dial A Matic bag collars, so I can run the Filtrete bag in my DAMs. It takes some extra work, but I know how you feel, wanting to run better filtration in an older machine...

Using a HEPA inner bag on a Kirby that was intended to use a paper bag will indeed cut back on the suction. The HEPA bags do not exhaust air as well as paper. So being the tradition has an already undersized fill tube, you will simply make it worse. Keeping the original fill tube is not possible.

You say you like the tradition fill tube because it is unique, and I respect that. However that does not mean that you need to discard it, you can simply install a heritage emptor, fill tube, and a heritage II bag connector, then install your tradition bag onto it. Save your old parts. If you don;t like the grey emptor, peel the paint off, wetsand the aluminum and buff out to a shine.

Vacuums are made to work, so therefor you sometimes have to modify them to make them better. Just like a 4 row, ball bearing brush roll is superior, yet there are collectors that refuse to run them because they are not original. Does it not make sense to wrap up the original 2 row and use the new brushroll to vacuum with?
