Hey guys,

I'm doing a restoration of a Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80 for a friend and in the process of eliminating deep gouges on it, I've run into a problem. I usually end up sanding the casting with 250, 500, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit before polishing, but there is a spot on the casting that was apprently an air bubble in the aluminum when it was poured into the mold.

The little divot turned into a small crator, which cannot be repaired. It's right on top in a really visible spot so I have to find a replacement housing.

Does anyone have a Dual Sanitronic 80 housing they would sell, like one from a donor machine or parts bin?

Thanks!
Andrew

It would be the housing shell, or the part that has the wheels attached, not the other piece where the armature and stuff seats inside. I can't do any type of patch because it won't polish up and will stick out like a sore thumb when I get to the final sand / polishing stages. The shell is scrap now.

Here is the damage - I was going to try and smooth out the defect but when I started to sand it just kept getting bigger - it was a lost cause as soon as the bubble opened up.
