I got bored and put down about a cup or so of cat litter on my little piece of plush carpet. I got my Mother's Oreck XL21 and put a brand spanking new bag in it (the best cloth kind) and got my Sentria and put on the dirt meter with a new pad. I went over the piece of carpet with the Oreck until my arm was ready to fall off. Then I went over the piece of carpet with the Sentria, ummmm yeah, I think we all know the results. ;-)
I only did two pads, I'm absolutely sure I would have gotten more if I did a few more pads. And when I was going over the carpet with the regular bag setup, I could STILL hear cat litter going into the vacuum, and the bag was already full!
And also please keep in mind that this was just a very quick and sloppy test, and don't even mention "everybody knows the last vac always wins" theory.
