How many of you have actually took the liberty of measuring the screws used on the various Kirby machines over the years?

Some of the exact screw sizes were taken from the Classic III service manual, but for others they are approximate.

Pictures:
1 - 1021R (rear axle) and 102157 (headlight socket)
2 - same as #1, also with 102168 (1CB-1HD headlight lens/2CB-1HD vent seal/3CB top-mount speed switch/3CB-1HD terminal hold-down bar)
3 - 138456 (516-D80 motor shell) and 138470 (1CR-LII motor shell)
4 - 1167 (505-1CR front bearing plate, and 1CR-3CB front axle clamp) and 134157 (517-D80 and 1HD-LII front axle clamp; 560-D80 belt lifter; and 1CR bottom screw for foot switch)

What I gathered so far...
1021R - for 505 to D80 rear axle - size 6-32 x 1/2"
102157 - for 517 to 1CR headlight socket - size 6-32 x 3/8"
102168 - for 1CB to 1HD headlight lens; 2CB to 1HD vent seal; 3CB top-mount speed switch; and 3CB and 1HD terminal hold-down bar - size 6-32 x 3/8" (also replaces 102157 headlight socket screw for models 517 to 1CR)
1167 - for 505 to 1CR front bearing plate; also for 1CR to 3CB front axle clamp - size 8-32 x 5/16"
134157 - for 517 to D80 and 1HD to LII front axle clamp; also for 560 to D80 belt lifter, 1CR foot switch (bottom), and 1HD to LII vent seal - size 8-32 x 3/8"
138456 - for 516 to D80 motor shell housing - size 10-24 x 7/8"
138470 - for 1CR to LII motor shell housing - size 10-24 x 5/8"

Dang

That's quite impressive.
Btw I shipped phone but my older phone I will try in Sunday AM to see about getting new photos. I attended a funeral with my wife. I didn't forget FYI.
This info is super useful. If you strip out a screw and need a replacement this would help find replacement screws. FYI I'm attaching a pic I'm about to take of the best needle nose vice grips I use. They actually clamp onto the screw and you can twist out the stripped out screw.
Model 46-22-3406 made by Milwaukee.

Hey, good information. None of these seem to be abnormal. Just basic screws you can get at the hardware store. Little screws like #10 and below are easily cut to length, if you can't get the exact screw. I use a tool just like the one in the link below to chop screws to size. Very handy tool to have if you're messing around with small machine screws like these.

Just fyi in case you can't find a 5/16" long screw, because that is an odd length size.

Kirby screws

Some of the older vac supply catalogs offered a set of after market Kirby screws so that after cleaning and buffing a Kirby the screws could also look new and shiny.
