Kirby Sanitronic

Looks like your Sanitronic will need a new fan-see age cracks in the plastic fan-thats what I HATE about those plastic fans-they crack as they age.I wouldn't run the machine at "hi" hose speed until you can replace the fan.The fan in the machine may "explode"-fly apart from the high hose speed.Would be great if you could get a metal orig fan.Kirby puts the plastic fans in(or another vac tech)sometime during the machines prior life.

Fan/Bearings

Yea I already fired it up, just with the nozzle, no hose, and the fan and or bearings are totally shot! I have already washed the bag with Woolite, turned out very nice. I took the shell off last night and checked the carbons, they have about 1/8" left, so I'll be replacing those also. Overall, it needs a lot of buffing, which I'll do with my bench polisher in the garage when it warms up. I have already sourced replacement wheels, cord, fan pulley kit, bulb, and brushroll. I have to dig up the front bearing plate and rear bearing also. Overall, it will be an easy, fun project! My partner said I should have left it for dead at Goodwill, but he doesnt know the potential it has to live again.

After about 4 hours of sanding, and a couple of hours of polishing with the bench polisher, I've almost got the nozzle done. I'll be ordering about $120 in parts for this Kirby here soon. The bumper will be replaced, Kent (Cleaner48 on eBay) is a great source for parts.
