I just managed to score a free Sanitronic VII yesterday. I've done a bit of research and I think it's pretty much original, although no accessories came with it. It runs, but is missing the belt, and I don't know how/where to get a replacement. The Kirby website doesn't list models this old. Any ideas? Also, how do I go about finding a reputable place to give it a once-over?

Thanks!

(Will post pics shortly)

The nice thing about Kirby

Is that one belt fits all. You should be able to pick up belts at any reputible vac shop. Only difference is the rug renovator and miracle head have a slightly different belt. I have a Sanitronic VII and love it. It is one of the few machines in my collection that the only way someone else will get it is to pry it out of my cold dead hand. :-)

update

I just borrowed a G3 belt from my parents, and my Sanitronic works great! Thanks for the link, twocvbloke, I just ordered some of the belts.

Here are some pics:

Light bulb

Oh, and is the light bulb a special order item or would any appliance store have one?

Thanks!

you can get the 25W double bayonet appliance bulbs at lowe's. you have to pick thru the boxes too though, because they have intermediate and single bayonet in the same boxes. no other place ive seen carry's double bayonet appliance bulbs but lowe's. not even home depot has them.

Whoever let you have that for free should kick themselves, that IS original, from the bag right down to the bronze-metallic effect trim and power cable!!! Look after that one for sure!!! :)

As for headlight bulbs, if you get stuck finding them, Kent Oyler (seller of those belts above) also carries the bulbs here (you should check out his shop for any other parts you may need, he has a lot to offer):

I sometimes find bulbs at estate sales/thrift stores. I recently stumbled upon a huge quantity at Worldwide Liquidators or Cummins tools, I think they are probably the same company. When I was there all the bulbs were half off or something like that and I picked up a bunch for 40 cents a piece. They had both the 15W and 25W bulbs. Also, you can find them at Ace Hardware stores or perhaps other smaller hardware chains. I also once bought a bunch of bulbs from Lowe's on closeout for a penny a bulb. I bought up all they had, LOL.

I'm with David, you are very lucky to find one with the original bag it such fine condition.

I picked up a 562 recently that had everything including the original box, the handy butler and the white cord.  But unfortunately a replacement bag.
