Picked this up from a former vacuum shop owner’s home this weekend at the OK/Kansas mini meet this weekend. I’ve never seen an Omega with wheels attached like this. My only thought is that it could be a modification for shag carpeting to make it easier to push.

That's very odd indeed.......

It almost looks like the rear wheels from a Royal that has been fitted to the Kirby. I've never seen anything like that before!

Those are the same wheels as the ones on the front of the motor housing. They're double-wide than the earlier wheels. Kirby started using these on the Classic, and when people brought in older machines to be serviced or rebuilt, these wider wheels were often used by means of screws long enough to go through the wheels and into the screw holes.


 


I will say, I've never seen them put on the rear axle before.
