Works pretty great too, much easier to push around (despite having the suction over a smaller area of carpeting), I really want to get one of those Sanitronic nozzles made for the Heritage series, they make it easier to use a Heritage!!!

I didn't look at the brushroll, but it is probably spinning a bit faster than it would be on the D80's motor...

As for Techdrive, nah, I like the workout the Kirby gives me without the TD, if I want the TD feature I'd just pull out the G3, well, if I had finished it's refurbishment off that is...

Yeah, the Sanitronic style nozzles seem to be hard to find (though I'm sure there are people here with boxes filled to the brim with them), and I doubt you'll find one on ebay UK any time soon!!! :S

If you can find one for sale, get it...

converitng D8 nozzles

All it really takes is a small L shaped piece of metal screwed to the back of the head or on the throat of the nozzle in the correct place to trip the safety swich on any of the Heritage series. The best place would be on the throat of the nozzle as not to collect lint in the air path in the nozzle from a screw coming thru the back side.

Kirby used to "adapt" the shampooer nozzle from the Classic kirby to trip the swich on the Classic Omega models so the shampooer could be used on either model machine. They did it on my moms kirby so the shampooer could be used on her classic omega or her moms classic kirby. You did have to have the nozzle for the classic machine as it had a lip on the fan case that matched a cut out on the back of all the heads for the classic model.That head would fit the newer machine. Previous models and models after the classic didn't have that lip.

I won't be modifying my D80's nozzle in that manner as I was just playing about, the paper wedge in the safety switch did the job and showed that it doesn't take a lot of engineering to mate the two together, fair enough that wedging the switch to be permanently on is a bad idea (especially if you have long hair or like putting fingers where they don't belong), but, it works fine when coupled with common sense...

I remember even using my LegendII tools on my Tradition many moons ago, all it took was placing a computer screw between the edge of the hose coupler and wedging it against the safety switch lever (and being only single speed at the time, there wasn't a need to press it all the way down), an that worked perfectly well too, until I took the hose off and the screw fell out...
