Yay , I finally have both versions of the Kirby Model 518 instructions manual . Who can tell me why there were two versions ?

I never knew there were two versions of the 518 instruction manual. But if I remember correctly, the surface nozzle and swivel was introduced during the production of the 518, so I'm thinking that the second version added instructions for their use.

Hi Jeff , happy thanksgiving !
Yes the later version of the 518 ( A) featured the surface /elbow nozzle that also came in a separate box. In addition, the Handi-butlet was redesigned and the Handi sharpener was updated , 3rd update in the booklet was new images of the bag now with the speckled design .
I will upload the second version of the booklet and add imagery reflecting all these changes to my website this week
