Okay, so I found a Kirby today with a tag I've never seen before.

It has the original factory tag hooked to the bag and is talking about a chemical inside the bag called KG-40 and lists all about what it does and says that

"Your DS 50 has been impregnated with KG-40"

Never seen a tag from the factory on these models. Anyone know of this? All I know is that the chemical is mostly Zinc.

I picked up this DS 50 at an antique store with all the attachments and box for only 8 dollars! The cleaner is all original as well! Not too bad eh?

KG-40

When we were clearing out my grandpa's house, after he passed away, I found the owner's manuel for his D50 and that same take was tucked inside.
KG-40 was Kirby's miracle additive. They added it to the Suds formula in the early '60's, if I remember correctly. The d50's bags were treated with the stuff to prevent mold and the like. I don't know how well it worked, but they were very proud of it.
I'm sure someone on the forum knows all the details.

My Classic also has that tag hanging on the bag. It sounds like KGF-40 was designed to give the new Kirby owner the warm fuzzies.
