Generation poster.

Hi,
Go to your local kirby dealer.
If you get on with them they might give you one.
As the Sentria has come out they might give you the old one or order you a new one.

Sorry are kirby dealer is really mean and only wants to sell u something.

We have that problem here in Fort Worth too for some reason the Kirby dealers are really nasty if you did not buy a new machine from them they will not help you at all.. They will not even order or sell you a part . they will tell you that "Its no longer made' I have much better luck with a independent dealer to get parts .. I love the older Kirbys too.. I am trying to find a small nozzle for my legand the Kirby dealers tell me that they were never made!!! O f course we all know better...

I've always had extremelly good luck with my Kirby dealer. He even ordered a bunch of replacement trim for my older machines. A couple of times in the past, I've sat in his shop with him for a couple of hours just talking about Kirby. He had all sorts of older models on display. He even had an old air-way hanging from the ceiling and was very impressed that I knew what it was. From then on, anytime he would get an older model on trade, he would save them for me until the next time I came in for anything and he would just GIVE them to me. Sadly though, this last time I went in, which was a couple of months ago, his shop was pretty much void of any machines except a gold plated G-5, a Diamond Edition, and A Sentria I saw sitting in the back. He still had his Kirby history poster up, but all other machines were gone, even his vintage ones that once had tags on them that stated "not for sale." I noticed that the shop owner was slower getting around than normal and had a slight limp. He wasn't that old so I'm wondering if maybe he had some sort of accident or stroke or something. He has even cut back the hours on his shop which leads me to believe that it will close eventually. It saddens me to think about this as he and only one other vac shop owner I have ever dealt with between Oklahoma City and Tulsa, have been pleasant to me. All others that I have dealt with have been just extremelly unpleasant to deal with. In fact, my employer is getting ready to purchase 12 commercial units for the different offices where I work. I'm trying to sway them towards at least a 6 amp Sanitaire model. All we have now are Eureka Maxima's that do nothing but leak dust, clog up,over heat and shut down until they cool off. One shop we went to was one I frequent where the owner was nice and extemelly knowledgable about Sanitaire. He even gave us brochures, let us play with them in the store, showed us how to change belts, how the quick clean feature works etc.. (I just stood back and acted interested as I know better ) the other stores myself and a co-worker went to to check prices, models, etc, were just hateful, even after they found out the amount of money we would be spending! we're talking almost 200.00 a pop for 12 units! that's $2400.00! Although it may be almost the price of a new Kirby, still.. for a small shop, that's alot of money. In fact, the one shop where the owner was the rudest advertised Sanitaire in the phone book and in his store front.. he had nothing but USED, DUST COVERED, PLASTIC dirt-devil types in his store, and one badly used and corroded Kirby Classic for sale.(which he was asking $100.00 for), and not ONE Sanitaire in sight. Said he didn't have any and when we questioned his ads in the phone book and store window, and told him where we had come from and what we saw, he had the nerve to tell us to go back and buy from him instead! In the other half of his store which USED to be the sewing machine portion, his wife had set up "shop" selling old used items such as shoes, clothes, old toys, etc.. you could tell that they were struggeling, but he still had the audacity to treat us the way he did. Alot of these guys aren't pleasant over the phone either. I know there are those owners out there who are actually passionate about what they do and live to help others with their carpet care needs, KUDOS to you and I THANK YOU for being there for those such as myself. You help keep this passion in me alive!

yes i now about that he told me u cant buy a fill tube for a g4 three years ago. Now i buy everything from a kirby dealer who sells parts but not the units hes the nicest vacuum man u would ever want to meet.

As the sale people get the money from the sale of new machines and has to keep up to a min target and the service side have to do so many services or sell so many parts.
All the sales people want is you to buy a new kirby off them part ex yours do that up and sell it to some one else who can't afford a new kirby but wants a kirby.

A couple interesting things I noticed...
Where are the models 2C-4C, 508-509, 511-515, 517-562, and the Sanitronic VII!?!? Unlike the detailed version on the website (which was identical to this poster otherwise), this version is incomplete at best. Surely these other models were worth including! And what about the R series?
I can almost understand why they didn't list the other version of the S&F Sanitation System, as well as the Heritage II Legend. But to leave so many gaps in the models is just bizarre.
Is there anything else left out that I didn't notice?

Yes, this poster leaves lots of voids. How about the "R" series (1R, 2R, 3R, and so on with the switch in the handle) which Kirby seems to almost deny any existence of? Also, the Kirby Utility and the Scott-Fetzer Aer-Rotor (one of which is on display at the factory).

Hi!
As far as Im aware Its meant for the service centers and sales people and its obviously advertising the new machine at the time so the just listed the main machines where the major changes took place to save space.
My friend who is a kirby distributor said in the early to mid80s
They did not have posters like that and they had separate pics of each kirby by its self and he had them all the way round the service center.

My experience has been much as yours, thunderhexed, at least in the OKC & Tulsa area! If you aren't here to buy new, Get Out! However, I did meet a very helpful man years ago who worked for the Kirby Distributor, his name is Gary and now has his own shop on 21st.& Portland, former site of Kirby Dist. a wonderful helpful man! Give him a try, although not with Kirby at this time I'm sure he will help you in any way possible. P.S. Cory, Sorry not to respond to you sooner, I've been on shut-down due to loss of a friend.
