Kirby Heritage II commutator brushes

Two weeks ago, I used my Heritage II Kirby with the hose attached.I was noticing that it ran slightly slower than usual. The slowing of the high speed was. a sign , because now the machine will not turn on. I tried twirling the fan and firmly tapping the back of the motor unit in hopes that the brushes would reset. I have tried this before ,and it would reset ( in hose mode). Is replacing the motor brushes easy to do? I have replaced them in my two 519s without much difficulty. Can the same be said for Heritage II? I would order these by Amazon if possible. I am without a car,so d.i.y. should be a better option for me otherwise, I would drive it to a repair shop.

The ones you want for your Heritage II will be stamped "HG22" on the carbons. They are installed in more or less the same manner as those for models 519 to Dual Sanitronic 80. The older carbon brushes you want for your 519 would be stamped "B75."

Follow Up on H II Kirby

I have just ran my Kirby Heritage II in upright mode and it turned on. As I had mentioned in my previous thread; the high speed does not work at all. Is this due to the motor brushes needing replacing? Otherwise,has the speed-selector/safety switch given out?

Wiring

You probably had it wired backwards . If you decrease power when hose is on and increase when nozzle is on. That's basically the exact opposite of how it should work.
The brushes will run like a car running out of gas. It will bog and be loud.
I'd check the wiring. The wiring is off the power switches unless you catch on fire don't fail. Check the wiring and you will find the issue.
