Kirby Heritage II 2-HD (Goodwill find)

Hello once again, everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while as life got in the way.

I hope you'll join me for the story of how I got a Kirby Heritage II for free.

It was a muggy Thursday afternoon. I had just picked up my truck from getting its AC system fixed and was riding high on high hopes and maybe a little freon. After going garage sale hunting and picking up a trio of TV-recorded VHS tapes - one of my other hobbies - I decide to head north out of the county to the local Goodwill. Goodwill was yet an untapped market for me since I hadn't gone to one since about 2014. I headed to the furniture section and there it was - a dusty Kirby Heritage II.

They wanted $14.99 for it. A pretty good price for a Kirby these days, even if it's a little newer than what I like.

After raiding the toy bin of diecast cars - another one of my other hobbies - I go to the checkout and pay $11 and leave. Wait, what? $11? The vacuum was $15! Let's take a look at the receipt together, shall we?

Yep, they only charged me for the cars. Free Kirby! Woohoo!

Cleaned up and happily at home, here's the Heritage II.

Left profile. Note the missing hubcap - I assume that happened before it got donated. No way it would have rattled loose in the back of my truck.

Right profile. Slight scratches in the metal are visible if you look closely at the brush roll nozzle.

Serial number. It was built in August of 1985 in Andrews, Texas. Happy early birthday! Strange for a Texas-built unit to wind up in Wisconsin. Then again, I have an old pickup from a dealership in Dallas.

Headlight assembly. It comes with a helpful infographic for first-time Kirby owners. Wish I had that when I got my first, lol.

Missing hubcap. The ultimate sign of a beater car - or vacuum.

A hubcap with a sticker on it. I assume these are to keep the finish of them, kind of like what they do for electronics? I'm surprised they're still on if that's the case.

Goodwill price sticker. It might as well say zero. lol

An old tag that was taped to the cord. Guessing the previous owner ordered a new one from Kirby at some point?

Plug. I'm not good enough to tell how recent it is just by looking at it, but it looks like the same vintage as the vacuum to me.

It had to be an older repop as it has some electrical tape from the previous owner.
