I found this Kirby Heritage at a thrift store last friday. It had a sign on it that said "needs work". It turned out to just be a broken fan blade. The vacuum was only $10.00. I put a new fan in and it runs great now. This one is cool because it has the small nozzle.

Very Nice!

Very nice find! A Heritage with a small head and somewhat rare! Congratulations. I’ve always liked the color of that bag.

VERY VERY NICE!  Its not too often you see those Sanitronic-styly nozzled Heretages. For $10, even thogh a broken fan blade, was a steal!

That small head on a Heritage is very very rare. Just the head is probably around $75 on eBay. Keep it because you may never see one again. I have owned hundreds of Kirbys and never one of those.

It used to be offered

as an option to the large heads . Many people complained the large head was way too big . This of course was before the Mc Mansions became popular .So you had a choice of the large head or the small head if you complained. This was never offered as a different model just the head size option.

Does the headlight cover on yours go all the down? I once had one and it didn't. I really liked it because it much easier to push on Berber carpet. Yours looks very nice!

Thanks!

Mine does not go all the way down either. There is a spot where the metal is worn down on the nozzle from the headlight cover hitting it.

If doesn't already have one, you might try the 4 row brush roll. I think you'll like it. It cleaners better and seems to make the vacuum easier to push.

Samuel, congrats on a wonderful find!!

Your new Kirby looks to be in wonderful shape! And something other here haven't pointed out....your Kirby Heritage is rare for 2 reasons. 1: It has the small head. 2. It is a Heritage 84. So, those 2 things combined make this SUPER RARE!!

Want to donate it to me for the money spent & the cost of shipping? I would GLADLY take it off your hands, LOL.

Rob

Looks to be a Heritage84 model too, the last of the original Heritage line...

I want one of them small nozzles, though I think I'll probably end up making my own from a Sanitronic nozzle using later colour trim parts and somehow making something to press the safety switch down, I know I can use my D80 nozzle on my Heritage84 (well, I had to fiddle with the safety switch, and the headlight couldn't go all the way down cos of the belt lifter), and it was much nicer to use, less bogging-down in the carpet, only it had the 2-row as per normal in the D80 line... :P

And a pic just for fun... :P

Did they ever make Heritage 84 small heads that say "Heritage 84" on the belt lifter? (I realize you could just swap on a H84 belt lifter from a large nozzle if you wanted to).

Sweet find!!!

"Did they ever make Heritage 84 small heads that say &#3

Probably, but those labels are NLA, so it's better to leave them as-is and not damage the ones fitted...

Nice find Samuel! Awesome looking Heritage. I have always loved the red bag on this model. I recall using one of these years ago with the small head & it was easier to push/navigate than the large nozzle.

Samuel,

I hate to hijack your thread, but I found the same Heritage 84 yesterday morning. I've been looking for one myself. I found mine at the flea market near my house. I was really hesitant to ask about the price, but when the vendor said two dollars. I knew I just had to have it.

The only other place I've seen one of these is in a vac shop in Bartlesville Oklahoma. So I know that they have to be somewhat rare.

Bill,

You are so right the 4 row brush roll is fantastic. It does make a big difference.

I'm so glad to see you back on the forum. I'm still enjoying my G5. It's still the only Generation (G-series) Kirby that I have.

Take care,
Kenny

Wow! Kenny, that is a tremendous deal! I really like the small head Heritage so much better. The standard head is too hard to push because of the rug plate design. It digs into the carpet. But the small head's rug plate is wider and therefore glides more easily.
