we have (had) a Kirby Heritage 2 at our church and I thought I was the only one that used it... Long story short, I went to use it and it didnt work at all, except for the little orange light on the top of it (the headlight is burned out). So I brought it home and took it apart and nothing is jammed, plugged, or broken and the motor turns freely. can anybody tell me what else could be the problem? Thank you!

Hi

Hi not sure with out seeing it but if the orange light is on when it is plugged in to a working outlet it means power is getting to the unit its self.

Have you checked the safty switch?? It could be stuck or bent.

Hope this helps.

James

THANKS

Hey thanks James, I just checked the safety switch and I think the switch is bad because it will work intermittently if I push it by hand, but I put it all back together and it wont work at all...

Dustin...

I think the curse of Kirbys happens in churches! I had my G6 when I went to go clean my late grandparents church and it completely died out on me. My problem was the carbon brushes. Just a thought, might be that.

NO

no,Clayton, but I think part of the problem is the people that use the vacuums in the churches! tonight I was there helping with our community meal and I could hear the lady that does most of the cleaning vacuuming with the Eureka I donated to the church and it sounded like she was vacuuming up marbles with it...

hmm I think I have a spare safety switch for a Heritage one that I would be willing to part out as they are the same housing with the same body style and motor. I do know that the parts are interchangeable. if you need it or are interested let me know and I will let you know the cost of shipping

Dustin & Kirby H II issue...

Hello Dustin,

It may be the 'metal lever' in the front switch is slightly bent as well. Is it intermittent when using the hose as well as the nozzle?

I have NOT seen it mentioned that the carbon brushes were ruled out, just the slightest movement of the pulley/fan could cause it to behave erratically if the brushes are going bad.

You would be more than welcome to call me or email me if you need additional assistance. Just let me know.

Dustin & solutuion...

Hey Dustin,

You are more than welcome, glad that took care of the problem.

(I do think that was the same thing James was infering as well. [[ I gathered at first he meant the 'actual switch' vs. the 'lever', when now re-read I think we both meant the same thing. ]] So I believe I should NOT accept full credit for solving the issue.)

Thank you James.

hagd all

Bill
