Kirby Heritage 2 - Manual/Tools

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum... wanted to say hello!

After some thought and research, I just bought a Kirby Heritage 2 from Vacstars on Ebay and should receive it this week.

My current vacuum is a Hoover Windtunnel 2 that is 6 years old. I'm hoping the Kirby can perform as well while providing better reliability/construction...

If anyone has a manual or tools, please do let me know!

helo steve and welcome. Heritage 1hd is my fave kirby, but im a big royal fan.

ck ebay as tools, books, dvds, come up on a regular basis, and the members here are always willing to help

There are a lot of nice people in the club & a lot of helpful info is available thru the members.

I get parts in all the time

If you need any kirby parts check out my ebay store new2youvacuums on ebay. I have been rebuilding these machines for about 11 years now and we get in many machines that I part out.

Just wanted to report on the Heritage 2 received and my impressions:

The bad:
1. Large scratches on top of Motor/Light Assembly, too deep to buff out...
2. A bit of a Frankenstein - Motor is from 1988, Nozzle is from 1987 (says Legend), handle is from a Kirby Heritage 2 (non-Legend)...
3. Light bulb did not work on arrival, took it out and it was old/dusty and needs to be replaced.
4. Was polished to a nice shine, but was also a bit dirtier than expected... I have since cleaned her and she looks pretty nice now.

The good:
1. Mechanically it's great, new fan, new brushroll, clean bag... runs flawlessly.
2. Lighter than expected, probably a good 10 lbs lighter than my Hoover.
3. Impressive build quality, this thing oozes quality and will be around for a lot of years.
4. Can deep clean carpets with the best of them.

Overall, despite some of the annoyances above, I'm pretty happy with this purchase...
I've used a Kirby G in the past and imo this one is better made, better functioning, lighter and more enjoyable to use.
There's really no contest between my Hoover either... the H2 is better by large degree.

Also to Vacstars credit, they offered to replace/fix/swap out anything I wanted free of charge and pick up the shipping...
However, I'm going to keep this vacuum as is... it has character and couldn't function any better imo.
I'll take some pictures when I get a chance.

Anyway, my new plan is to not buy any additional tools for this Kirby and get canister for my stairs...
Any thoughts to a good, durable model? Thinking a CXL Tristar...

Steve, yes, i would highly recommend a TriStar, especially a CXL or any of the earlier than EXL models.(stay away from the EXL, MG series)
If you find a TriStar with a good motor, put in a new outer cloth bag, new inner liner bag,,new pre motor filter, and new hepa exhaust filter,,the TriStar is a force to be reckoned with. Also consider an Electrolux Silverado,, its one of their very best. IMHO
