Kirby help!

hey all,

so i have a d50 that has a shot safety switch. and i need to know how to wire it permanatly on low so i can use it once again. right now its all apart in my shop and i need to know what to do asap so i can get it put together again.

does anyone know how to do this?

No idea how to hard-wire it, but I think it would be easier and safer to get a new switch:

I wish I could assist but for the moment, would you happen to have a working but less desirable IYHO (in your humble opinion) Kirby with the same safety switch #134365 that you could use for this D-50?

I found a nine volt battery today, stuffed it in my multi-meter and took the cover off my D50 to look at its wiring. My switch had four pins, G, W, R, and Y. In the automotive world left is always the driver’s side here in the states and right is always the passenger side. With both pins of the switch up, there is not continuity between any of the pins. With the right pin down there is only continuity between pins G and W. This is the low speed setting.

If the left pin is down there is continuity between pins G and Y and also between W and R. This is the high speed setting.

I have tried both of these setting manually and it seems to work. Here is a really bad image of the high speed hard wire. If you run this I would pull the wires back into the rear cover, this was just a test…

Good Grief, the picture above for the low speed hardwire is wrong! I reversed the switch in my head when I said G&W should be connected. The proper two are R & Y! Is it possible to delete the bad text and image? The high speed is correct. Sorry about this!
