kirby handle cover exposed

i bought a blue trimmed 500 series kirby but it had a blue tradition handle on it which i did not like.i've been searching for a blue 500 series handle cover for a while. finally this week i found one.i removed the red handle cover on one of my spare 500 series handles.if you have never seen what it looks like under the cover here it is.

after getting my blue handle cover i found it very hard to get it on.after trying different methods the best i found was to 3 in 1 oil it & get a cloth to be able to grip the cover to slide it on.very tight & hard to do but i prevailed.

Ok. How hard was it getting the old handle off?
