Today I went out to one of the largest flea markets in my area. this is my second trip there, on my first trip there, despite the massive size of the market, I could not find anything of interest vintage vacuum wise. Today I went there and found a Heritage II, the standard model with the shaved-down nozzle wings. at $30, I decided to check back on it later. I'm glad I did!


 


Over in Row Q, I meet two lovely older ladies who had the same model Kirby for sale, but this one was a once-in-a-lifetime deal!


It had belonged to her Mother, and WAS USED ONLY 4 TIMES! Her Mother found it too heavy for her to use, and was presumably closeted for all these years. Included in this lot was the EXTREMELY RARE MINIATURE HEAD! and standard attachments!


At $40, I didn't even argue on price!

Question:

What is that hoover in the background with the orange panel? I had one of these back in the 90's.

Secondly, what is the hype other than the fact it is rare for the small 13" nozzle? I actually think the new thin nozzle that has the brush indicator light on it, makes the vac look more modern and mean.

Hi!

1: The Orange Hoover in the background is the Hoover Dial-A-Matic model 1120,introduced in 1963, The world's first bypass upright.


 


2:The Heritage II's shaved-down nozzle is very nice, especially with the B.P.I light. I do like that version of nozzle, and wouldn't mind having a Heritage II with one. Another version of Heritage II nozzle was the older, Flatter Classic/Heritage I series nozzle, and the third version being the rare '13 inch nozzle. The hype is in the fact that this is an extremely rare option, hardly ever seen. the smaller nozzle concentrates suction well, and makes the Heritage II Legend an even greater sucking machine!

I understand now. That makes sense that it would concentrate more suction.

As for the Dial a Matic 1120, how is it? I was too young to remember. I only got to work on it, and forgot alot. How is the suction compared to the kirby?

No Problem!

The Dial-A-Matic's suction is very impressive, but for actual floor cleaning, the Kirby would beat it. while it was the world's first,it was certainly not the world's best. the Dial-A-Matic has concentrated suction at one end of the nozzle, in which the Kirby has the better centered suction channel. The Kirby is also very direct and powerful, and moves massive amounts of air.


 


If you want, I'd love to do a Video comparing the Heritage II Legend and the Dial-A-Matic.

VERY NICE find-For the one that felt the machine was too heavy-great for you!and only 40 bucks.Despite the poor pictures,they make it clear the machine is beautiful!!I am learning how to use my new camera,too!So I have taken some good and poor pictures of the worksite!Next will be my vacuums-may need a seperate memory SD card for the camera to do that!

Lovely Heritage I's! Although it appears the 2nd one with the hose equipped has a Legend II Handle.


I have both the Heritage I and Heritage 84 (Looks like you have one of each, too!), lovely cleaners!


 


I'm VERY surprised to see the Heritage 84 With BOTH The optional small head AND cloth shake-out bag, Awesome! and Rare!


I love the Bag Set-up on my Heritage II legend, although I wouldn't mind having the shake-out bag, just to double the machine's rarity

. Fun fact- The paper bag inside the Heritage II Legend blew off while I was vacuuming the house with it on home-coming day, I had a suspicion it would! I vacuumed-out the bag (Looks BRAND NEW!) and now it's fine, even re-vacuumed the house with the Kirby, and broke out the attachments and vacuumed everything in the house that was vacuum-able! Blinds, fans, floors, shelves, EVERYTHING! What fun it was! 


 


I think your Heritage 84 is the first I've seen with BOTH Cloth-shake-out and mini-nozzle, I'd love to see a Legend II with such a set-up! come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a Legend II with optional shake-out bag!


 


I can tell we're going to be great Kirby friends! Did you polish those Kirby cleaners yourself? and if so, how all did you do it? as much as I love them, Polishing is not my strong suit! I'm not even going to polish this/my Heritage II Legend, it still has the factory shine to it! However, my rare December 1979 Tradition (With the locking head-light cap)  has been broken-apart for almost a year now over polishing!
