Today, a Kirby G5 came in for repair that had no BPI indicator on the front nozzle. The nozzle is stamped Kirby and has the correct sticker for the belt pulley. Was there a manufacturing run of G5's that didn't have that light? I thought all Generation series machines had it?

Yep, some of the G5s never had the light. I believe the ones without the BPI light were made when Kirby was in the middle of switching the light from the "driver's" side to the "passenger" side.

Thanks for the info broomvac. I had no idea, although I did know the BPI switched sides after the G4. This G5 was manufactured in January 1997. Wonder for how long the G5 was without the light?

I don't know but I wish it was forever. It's funny g5 and avalir 1 and 2 are the only Kirby models I have not owned. I take that back 513-517 I haven't owned any of them yet.
