Kirby G4 in trash

Last night when I was going for a walk on my street my neighbors had put a Kirby in front of their garage by the trash cans. I figured they would put it out for trash today and they did, it's a G4. Didn't see a hose or any attachments with it, though there was a Bissell or Hoover (not sure) floor cleaner things sitting with it.

I would have gotten it, but it rained all weekend so it was soaked. Then we had another sudden downpour tonight, and I don't have anywhere really to put it to dry out.

Times like these I wished I had my own place and garage to keep things out of the house.

I didn't grab it-it's soaking wet and by the time the rain stopped it was dark. I MIGHT consider grabbing it on the way to work in the morning - but don't really want a wet, potentially stinky vacuum in my trunk.

We'll see.

Water won't hurt it, just leave it out in the sun all day on the next sunny day with as much parts off and opened up to air out and it will be good.

I know I have bought worse vacuums off eBay that nearly ruined my house. Oreck Halo from Brooklyn NYC with cockroaches inside it anyone? lol

Nah no thanks on that! LOL I try not to bring dirty or smelly vacuums into the house. When I get my own house I want a garage for sure to work on vacs or other things and have them quarantined from my living space until thorough cleaning/disinfecting is done.

Agreed. It's a solid idea.

I plan to do that too but need to de-clutter other hobbies and junk I built up before I can do that. Also helps so you can run vacuums around on rolls of wall to wall carpet laid out on the floor or area rugs and run the vacuums around without disturbing family in the house too.

My very first Kirby was a Gsix I rescued from beside a dumpster on a drizzly autumn evening. I was on my way to a meeting at church, so it sat on the back seat of my car for a couple of hours before I brought into my apartment. I have no idea how long it had been out in the weather but it certainly wasn't hurt. All it needed was a belt and a bag. That was also the machine that brought me to this site and set me up for my present addiction (at least one of them).
