I’ve never seen a Kirby g3 like this before. Can someone explain?

G-3 Bumper
The red is the way it left the factory.The black is dirt.A toothbrush and cleanser will make it match the other light parts.Every collection should have a Generation Kirby.They are often low mileage and in good condition under the dirt as many do not like the size and weight or take the time to learn how to operate.It looks like the rear wheels have little wear on the rubber cover.Just like looking at tire wear on a used car you can get an idea of how much use it had.

I think somebody must have painted it, you can see on the corners where its scuffed the paint is coming off. Maybe they didn't like how many scuffs the gray color showed and made it black instead.

Those G3s have the reputation of getting dirty and dingy especially in smoking households. Looks like dirt/grime to me. I don’t think it’s a heritage II bumper the red is off and the nozzle corners are more rounded on the heritage IIs.

That bumper is supposed to be sort of a dove gray, almost white. My G3's bumper looked like that when I first got it, although my red tape stripe is faded pink. It's hardly perfect now, but it is closer to the original color. It still has some dark spots that almost look like mildew stains. The cord looks like it's nicotine stained, but that's apparently a natural discoloration. Some of the other plastics are yellowed as well. G3's generally don't age well, appearance-wise. It's little wonder that the G4 had charcoal gray livery and every Kirby after that has had a darker color scheme.
I agree that G-series Kirbys get a bad rap for their weight and complexity. People just need to learn to use them properly. They are absolutely cleaning BEASTS. I snagged an almost pristine looking G6 with its toolkit at Goodwill one time after a couple walked away from it. The wife dismissed it as "too heavy" after trying to push it, turned off and with the TechDrive engaged. As soon as they were clear of it, and looking at some plasticrap Bissell or Dirt Devil, I Grabbed it and headed for the checkout before they had a chance to change their mind.

Out of all the chemicals that I've used, I find that this stuff works the best for not only removing dirt off but also paint as well so I'd highly recommend this for your G3 bumper. My advise though is to wear gloves as this is pretty toxic to skin, at least it has on mine.
On a side note regarding to these Generation style Kirbys. I'll admit that I think they are good vacuums, but they're just not my favorite to use as they are an outdated design in my humble opinion. My grandparents replaced their G4 they've had new since 1994 with a cheap Dirt Devil from target in 2004 because they were tired of carrying it up and down the stairs as it was getting too heavy for their age, and they were also tired of using the hose that you have to turn off and switch the rug nozzle over to. And to be honest, I did liked the Dirt Devil more than the Kirby. It seemed to do a better job on carpets, at least the ones that the Kirby definitely struggled with cause it didn't had as much suction power as the Dirt Devil. I liked that I can easily use the hose without having to shut the vacuum off. It was bagless so I was able to easily see the dirt coming into the bin and the filter was washable so that saved on having to buy more Kirby disposable bags. And it was lighter. I regretted not buying another motor when the Dirt Devil had died cause it was just almost a perfect vacuum for the place. I said almost because I definitely didn't liked that the Dirt Devil scattered dirt back on my feet on lower pile carpeting and rugs, and I did had to change the belts out almost every time that I went down to that place, however I was buying generic belts so that was forgiving. Not to mention that there were screws that needed to be taken out for the belt. And I remembered using the Dirt Devil one time as the heater was turned on during the winter, and it tripped the breakers. But it was an old house so that was also forgiving.
