Kirby fat nozzle or skinny nozzle, which do you like to USE better?

Perhaps it's just the thin S***ty OLD carpet in my basement which the underpad has compacted into nothing, but I find the fatter nozzle of my Heritage works better than my Heritage II or G series vacs. It keeps it held down while the newer vacs try to suck up the carpet which is very loud when it hits the brushrolls. Eventually I will be getting new carpet but wondered if anyone else experiences this with thin carpet or otherwise.

<span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: medium;">Have you checked the height of the bristles? That can be adjusted by the screws on the ends of the brushroll. As the bristles start to wear down, the brush roll position needs to be lowered. They should be set so that the bristles stick out from the bottom of the nozzle about 1/32". </span>

Technically speaking, the nozzle of a Heritage and a HeritageII will perform the same if set up identically with identical brushrolls, as they are basically the same nozzle, just the HeritageII nozzle has had it's wings clipped...

However if you used a comparison of a Classic to Tradition style nozzle, then the rugplate is larger, resulting in smaller openings, thus there would be slightly more concentrated suction, aswell as less chance of "digging in" (making it difficult to push) given the larger smooth surface area...

There's also the Sanitronic-style nozzle for the Heritage series, but, I won't muddy the waters with that, cos they're pretty rare things these days...

I do need to check the height of all my vacs, I do have it set for the bristles slightly below the rug plate but just approximate. More than anything I need new carpet. lol

If the carpet is being "held down" you have the nozzle set to low.

The vacuum should pick up the carpet off the floor. I have some commercial carpet with a low cut pile. My Heritage II and my other kirbys will pick the carpet up off the floor. It happens with the installed plush carpet as well.
